We don’t merely give food, we help people live healthier lives.
While customers wait to shop, they can attend an exercise class with yoga instructor Asalia Oliveres. Classes emphasize the importance of regular exercise as well as healthy eating. Our classes aim to help our customers lead healthier, happier lives.
To see when exercise classes are offered, check out our weekly schedule.
Our nutrition workshops and cooking demonstrations show customers how to cook healthy, balanced meals using pantry food. Customers learn how diet affects their health and how to think about nutrition as they select food at the store. Nutrition workshops, led by a professional, include topics such as:
- Understanding USDA’s MyPlate
- Reading Food Labels
- Planning Healthy Menus
- Food Shopping on Budget
Chef Training & Cooking
West Side Campaign Against Hunger knows from experience that we must go beyond providing food. Our mission is to empower people to become self-reliant and to help them find solutions. One of the ways we do this is by offering a chef training program.
